Hi,
I'm a first time Gixen user and my snipe failed. I'd previously done a snipe with Goofbid that also failed - so I have a feeling it's something I'm doing. I did recently change my ebay password, but this was prior to setting up both snipes.

Gixen gave me the message "Unknown error (3)". When I clicked to view error I was prompted to log onto eBay which only led me to the bid listing.

Here's the bid number - 350917396059

I am a bit confused by how the Gixen link to view the error lead to you logging into Ebay, though I can understand that this may mean that Gixen was being presented with an extra log in screen when trying to place a bid for you.

Ebay can sometimes do that when they require extra information from you, have you tried placing a bid manually on Ebay recently? Trying that may reveal what information it is that Ebay requires you to enter.

Thanks Cupid for your help. Smile

I haven't done an actual bid in about 2 years, only a "buy it now" item which went through without a hitch. I'm not sure what extra information they'd require?

Okay, I just tried bidding and it went through fine - even got a confirmation email.

I do have an expired credit card on record - do you think that could have been a factor?

It's possible - ebay wanted some information from you that's behind that extra login screen.

It is certainly worth updating your credit card information to one that is current, because having an expired one has been known to cause issues like the one you are having.

Thanks for you time Cupid & Mario. I've updated everything and will try again. I'll let you know if there are further problems.

Thanks again!

Okay, updated everything on my account, and my next snipe still failed. I got the same error. Guess it's just not meant to be!

What was the auction number of the most recent failed snipe?

It's the same thing again - another login screen. Whatever reason for this is, it's behind that extra login screen.

Maybe a future enhancement, for Gixen, might be to detect that log in screen and attempt a further log in, just so that more information can be provided by Gixen about what the issue is.

I doubt that such an enhancement could actually result in more bids being placed though, it would just be an advantage to Gixen users that are not able to reproduce the behaviour with there own manual bidding on Ebay.

Mark, I tried that at one point, but it was rather complicated, so I gave up. I agree it would be useful.
