Item # 287591332692
My Gixen bid was $23.55, yet the item sold for $22.27. The Bid increment was met. Why was my bid ineligible? |

There can be a number of reasons why Ebay rejects a bid.
Try starting to place a bid on one of their other auctions
You don't have to actually place a bid these days to find out... if you can get to the point of entering an amount it's likely your bid will be accepted. Please do this on the site you have set to be your target in your Settings, which I accept may not be the Australian one I've directed you to.
Do you get to that point with any of these auctions ? ... If not what message does it give you ? _________________ Mark

| I placed a number of other bids at the same time as this one, of which I won 3 and was outbid on 2. the successful bids were either side of this one (ie. Successful just before and thenjust after). It just doesn't make sense. I have been trading on Ebay for over 25 years and never experienced anything like this. |

| Yes. All with same seller, someone that I have been dealing with for many years. |

OK, so the only way to end up with that status is for Gixen to attempt to place the bid, but for Ebay to reject it.
You can ask, via email, for Mario to see if there's anything more explicit in the server logs... but this might be a case where it's worth asking Ebay direct why your bid on that item was rejected, given that you have evidence, that they can review, of you winning auctions with the same seller either side of it. _________________ Mark |

Thanks Mark for the suggestion.
After getting four more \"You are not eligible to bid on this item\" rejections, I contacted Ebay and got not much more than gooledegook. They assured me that they would \"look into\" the issue.
As an aside, the problem seems to be widespread. I contacted the seller of one of the items in question and he advised that some of his other long standing customers had suffered the same fate and were livid. He also told me that he was aware of other sellers having the same problem with their bidders.
I and others, suspect that it is a technical glitch with the new ridiculous feature of \"extended bidding\". |

One futher note.
Last night 10/12/26, I received on Gixen the result \"You are not eligible to bid on this item\", only to find when I went to the Ebay purchases page, I actually won the item!!!
Did they change their mind?? |

| Can you please provide me with the most recent item id for which this happened and I will check the logs to see if there is more information received from eBay. |

10/11/2026 - Ebay #'s 287619561787, 307208155414, 278424749051
10/12/2026 - Ebay #278427639458 this one is shown on Gixen as \"You are not eligible to bid on this item\", but when checking the Ebay site for purchases, I won it! Did they change their mind?
I checked with my seller in Australia and he advised that he has one local livid customer, another in the UK and as we communicated another from the US. It is obviously a widespread problem on Ebay, probably with the roots in the \"Extended Bidding\" feature recently introduced. They claim that their technical people are working on the problem, but in the meantime, we all lose out, Ebay included.
I even suggested that when the problem arises, the sale should be cancelled and the item relisted. We'll see how far that goes. |

It looks to me like | Quote: | | Aus97 wrote:#278427639458 | may have been won by Mirror, what does it say the status is on that tab ? _________________ Mark |

Yeah, with incremental bidding the interaction between the actions of the Main and Mirror, both acting independently, is different. It's not the first time I've noticed both bidding within a few seconds of each other at different increment levels.
If you set your Main offset lower (as detailed here the Mirror is fixed at 1 second) that probably happens less often.
That said, with the 'not eligible' result on one of the Main bids, maybe this actually helped you win that one if Ebay was being inconsistent as to which bids it accepted from your account. _________________ Mark |
