Hey Mario,
This just began today. I hadn't touched Gixen in about two weeks and never ran into it before, so something seems to have changed recently.
The pattern: I set a snipe, switch away from the browser window briefly (usually only a minute or two, often less time than that), then come back to set another one. The page clears and the new snipe won't go through. I have to navigate back to snipes to continue. Happening constantly.
Environment:
OS: macOS (latest)
Browser: Safari
Gixen: Paid
Console errors when it happens:
500 (Internal Server Error) ? home_2.php?sessionid=[masked]
TypeError: null is not an object (evaluating 'document.getElementById('newitemid').focus') ? home_2.php:21, onload
404 (Not Found) ? style2021.css.map (x2)
Glad to pull more logs or test whatever's useful! |

Interesting, so this is with an active Mirror subscription.
Are you saying you add the snipe and then swap away from the window immediately, without waiting to see if it's accepted and the page updated accordingly, or have I got that wrong ?
... and it's the new snipe you're trying to set up after the switch back that doesn't go through, and when you eventually get back to the snipes page the previous one is there, set up just fine ?
Are you copying and pasting the auction ids from another window ?
I'm wondering if this is to do with the focus on the page not being correct, do you click in the field where the auction id is supposed to go before pasting it there ? _________________ Mark |

I often do that (workflow tends to be rather fast), but that didn't appear to factor into this issue, and whether or not the window was focused at the os level didn't seem to affect whether or not the bug occurred.
> and it's the new snipe you're trying to set up after the switch back that doesn't go through, and when you eventually get back to the snipes page the previous one is there, set up just fine ?
No, when the bug occurred, I would set a snipe, click enter on my keyboard from the max bid field (maybe sometimes click submit, but that doesn't appear to be related to the issue), the screen would should the post-bid load affect as if it were submitted the snipe, then the entire page under the Gixen banner would go blank. My \"fix\" was to click the gixen.com link to go to homepage, then click \"return to my snipes\" button, which would navigate successfully and my previous snipes would be there. However, the snipe I had made just prior to the screen clear would not be there. This occurred with about 40% frequency across the submission of something like 40 snipes (ha coincidence they're both 40).
> Are you copying and pasting the auction ids from another window ?
Yes, I have always c/p'ed the listing ids from another browser window. Typically my config is having one monitor with ebay open, and one with gixen, and working between them. Have done that for months without issue.
> I'm wondering if this is to do with the focus on the page not being correct, do you click in the field where the auction id is supposed to go before pasting it there ?
Not entirely sure what you're asking, but nothing about my clicking into the auction id field seems to be related to the bug.
> Are you using any browser add-ons?
None. I never had browser add-ons active. |

OK, with this expanded description of the issue it now appears that the issue is with the page being blank after you think you've submitted a new snipe.
Since you also say that 'maybe sometimes click submit', I guess you mean 'push the \"Add\" button' ?
Since you sometimes appear to be using your keyboard, to enter snipes, could you instead try using the mouse to click the \"Add\" button and report back whether that makes any difference ?
You're using two completely separate monitors/screens in your workflow, right?
I only have one so I work between tabs on a single browser, occasionality two different browsers, I wonder if that makes any difference... perhaps you could try working on one monitor as well and see if that makes any difference ? _________________ Mark |

Correct.
> Since you also say that 'maybe sometimes click submit', I guess you mean 'push the \\\"Add\\\" button' ?
yeah.
> Since you sometimes appear to be using your keyboard, to enter snipes, could you instead try using the mouse to click the \\\"Add\\\" button and report back whether that makes any difference ?
Sure, though note that I've always used my keyboard, and this is highly unlikely to be the source of the bug. The program shouldn't care if I submit via button press or via keyboard input cmd.
> You're using two completely separate monitors/screens in your workflow, right?
yeah. have always done this.
> perhaps you could try working on one monitor as well and see if that makes any difference ?
I suspect there is approximately a 0% chance it will make a difference, as the browser tab and web process have no idea that I'm using multiple monitors. |

Have you got other ideas what might be causing this issue ?
Bearing in mind it doesn't seem to have been reported much here, yet ? _________________ Mark |

Probably just a transient server-side fault in home_2.php on gixen's end, which seems to have cleared on its own (just tested, everything working great, i changed nothing ? didn't even close the tab from the other day). If you check your server error logs for 500s on home_2.php around the time of my report, the stack trace should pinpoint the failure and the timestamps would show whether anyone else hit it.
So again: at the moment, everything is smooth sailing for me. Issue appears resolved. |

I am seeing this error very frequently, maybe 1 out of every 3 times I enter a snipe. I copy the item number and type in my bid and click enter, then the screen goes completely blank except for the Gixen logo in the top left corner. The snipe is not added and I have to click the back button to return to my snipes and enter it again. Sometimes the snipe still doesn't go through and I have to try it a third time.
I have tried clicking the add snipe button, hitting enter, tried another browser and cleared my cache and cookies but none of those things solved it. I am a mirror subscriber. Is there any other info I can provide to help? |

I am having similar issues at the moment. I am trying to update my list with bid amounts and I am mostly just getting the top header and the rest of the screen is blank.
If I click on My Snipes a few times it comes back but when I try and edit a snipe it mainly goes back to a blank screen with the header.
If the edit screen does actually appear, it then goes back to a blank screen with a header when I try and save the bid.
I am having success about 1 in 15 times!
I have tried different browsers with the same result. |

I've been having the same issue for the past hour or so, and it's coinciding with the even bigger issue of not being able to import new items into Gixen from my eBay watchlist. On my mobile Gixen app it says \"No active auction found in the watchlist\" when I attempt to import my new items. On my desktop when I attempt to import auctions, it just takes me to the blank screen with the Gixen header.
My snipes that I'd set earlier today are still working fine, there's just not much I can do otherwise. Like the other user said, when I attempt to edit a bid amount, it only loads maybe once every 15 times. |

This is the message I get from Gixen on my desktop when I'm trying to import new items:
\"No items imported. Note that completed and buy-it-now-only watched listings will not get imported.\"
But I have added several new items to my watchlist in the last hour that have not yet ended, so I'm not sure why this is happening. I can see them in my eBay watchlist, FWIW. |

FWIW, I am getting the same message when I try and import even though I just added 10 or so new items to my eBay watch list.
The bid update is working much better now but I still get the occasional blank screen. I presume it is a resource issue of some sort? |

Maybe this new front end server that we are now using is set up a bit differently than the one we were using before, it is after all in a completely different facility.
Only Mario has the required access to look into this though.
It would be helpful if contributors could also mention the number of snipes that they currently have scheduled. _________________ Mark |

Last night when I couldn't import new items, I probably had about 40 scheduled bids and about 75 total watchlist items in Gixen that had successfully uploaded earlier in the day.
So far today I am able to upload new items, though! I'm also no longer having that issue where the page is blank with the Gixen header when I attempt to edit or enter bids.
Typically I have around 100 scheduled snipes per day, if that kind of volume perhaps makes me more susceptible to the issues we had last night.
Thank you |

| The blank page issue is mentioned by several users, however I am unable to replicate it and I see no error in the logs. I am still investigating, however. |
