|

Hi there,
I used to use Gixen years and years ago, but then I stopped using eBay for a while. When I used to use Gixen, I could adjust when my bid would be submitted (aka 30s before end, 10s, 5s, etc).
When I just set up my Gixen for today, I did not see an option for this.
I just lost an auction, and the bidding history showed me bidding on the item 7 minutes prior to the end of the item. Could anyone explain to me why that is? If I understand the bidding history correctly, it may have lost me the auction at $213 and I may have actually won the auction at $165 had my snipe executed 5s before end.

Here's what I'm seeing, on the American site, in terms of actual late bids:
Time Ended: Jul 26, 2025 at 9:00AM PDT
6***i (51) $213.50 26 Jul 2025 at 8:59:59am PDT
6***w (48 ) $211.00 26 Jul 2025 at 8:59:56am PDT
8***0 (735) $185.00 26 Jul 2025 at 8:59:47am PDT
5***1 (61) $182.00 26 Jul 2025 at 8:59:54am PDT
8***0 (735) $179.00 26 Jul 2025 at 8:59:31am PDT
i***- (10) $175.00 26 Jul 2025 at 8:59:45am PDT
Which is all in the last 15 seconds, was your bid placed earlier than that ?
You can choose an offset (up to 15 seconds) if you have an active Mirror subscription, otherwise the default is 6 seconds offset.
If your bid was for $211.00 from an account with 48 feedbacks it was actually placed 4 seconds before the end of the auction.
The winning bid was placed 1 second before the end of the auction, it's unlikely to be a reaction, in 3 seconds, that's most likely a bid that someone had decided to place well before any of those bids came in. It was at least one bid increment more than 211 because in the range $100.00?$249.99 the bid increment is $2.50. _________________ Mark |

Confirming that your bid was the $211 one. Not sure why you think your bid was placed 7 minutes early. Gixen can't do this, it's designed in such a way that this is practically impossible. It has never happened. |

Thank you for the data ! I was misreading the mobile eBay app. The mobile app showed 7m and 9m as the ?last bid timestamps? and I wasn?t looking at it correctly. When I logged on with my computer I see it executed 4s before.
How would I shift it to bid 1s before? I see the offset fields, but I don?t quite understand what offset means.
Thanks for your help! |

It's the time, in seconds, before the auction end that the server should place the bid for you.
If you set them to different values you should expect the one with the higher offset to win most often, because that's the one you've asked to bid earliest.
So, if you definitely want your bid placed just one second from the end you would need to set both offsets to 1. _________________ Mark |
