Sniped 4+min before it ended?

I sniped over 4min before the auction ended and bid at my maximum, didn't even just bid the next highest possible bid, what am I doing wrong?

2. What maximum bid did you enter for Gixen to bid?
3. What actually happened? Did Gixen leave you a message?
