Gixen Listing not showing Current Bid Price

I'm confused. For two days in a row, Gixen is not reflecting the current eBay bid on some items.

For some reason, Gixen isn't showing current EBay bids even when I log out of Gixen and log back in. For example, there is an item right now that is still listed as $100 for current bid on Gixen, but the actual bid right now is $202.50 (Item number: 142129319951)

This doesn't correct if I log back out and back in to Gixen.

It happened on an item yesterday too. It never corrected on bid price, even though I logged in and out a couple times. The only time it corrected was when the auction was over, and then the actual high bid showed.

What is going on?

After posting this, I changed my bid price on the item mentioned by $1.00 just to see what would happen and it did update the bid price, something that Gixen would not do before, even if I logged out and back in again. Do I have to change my priceto check to see if the bidding has actually gone up?

I'm concerned because it has happened twice and there are a couple of upcoming items I don't want to miss.

Gixen does not update auction prices on the web interface in real time. It only looks the prices up intermittently, more often towards the end of the auction.

The price is supplied for convenience only, it is not essential to the sniping process. I recommend that you decide well in advance the amount that you are prepared to pay and set your snipe accordingly.

To provide real time updates via the web interface is prohibitively expensive, in terms of server resources, which is why it was discontinued many years ago many there were nowhere near as many users as there are now.

If real time updates are important to you and you have a Windows based computer I would recommend that you look into using the Gixen Desktop Manager, because that uses your own computers resources in order to fetch the current prices, and thus can do so in almost real time, if you wish.

The reason that the price was updated as a result of modifying the snipe is that it is equivalent to deleting and resubmitting the snipe once more at a different price. Please do not use that method to obtain updates, since it is even more expensive in terms of the resources you use to do it.. and if everyone started doing it the site would rapidly become unusable for the rest of the community.
