Ebay #371531973716
Tonight I left a bid for the above item with about 4 minutes remaining. As time ticked down I decided to bid more but didn't think I had time to edit my Gixen bid so I bid myself with under 10 seconds remaining. I knew it was possible to be raising my own bid but decided that would be OK.
Turns out my manually entered bid won the item for less than my Gixen bid. The numbers: First bid (not mine) $155.77. My Gixen bid: $181.99. My manually entered bid $228. I won the item for $158.27.
The Gixen bid was not made and the reason listed is "Bid under asking price", which isn't correct.
What happened? I'd like to understand so, if I made a mistake, I won't do it again.
Thanks for all you do. |

This is normal operation.
Ebay will not allow you to place a later bid at an amount lower than you have already bid.
By placing your own bid earlier than Gixen was going to bid you effectively blocked it from being able to do so, due to that Ebay rule.
The status is correct because Ebay would have informed Gixen that the proposed bid had to be higher than the one you had already placed for it to be accepted. _________________ Mark |
