Hi Mario,
I am using Windows 10 and Firefox 41.0.2.
I have recently discovered the cause of constant Mozilla crashing on start up was due to the gixen add on I have installed (and use and rely on frequently!)
I have several backed up firefox profiles, all which worked fine on first start up, but each time I used firefox once, then closed it, the next time I restarted it, it crashed.
Looking at my extension page in firefox, I saw that the gixen add on was being updated from the older version in my saved profile, so it seems that the newer version may be causing the crash. Starting firefox in safe mode and disabling the add on restores functionality to firefox and it runs fine.
I have not seen any other posts relating to this and don't know if my situation is caused by the combination of add ons I have or by my O/S and Firefox combination, but I really am missing the ability to make snipes directly from eBay item pages.
I read in another post that you were considering bringing back the GM script for future versions of firefox when unsigned add-ons may not be allowed, and wonder whether this may still be a possibility?
To be honest I far preferred that option anyway, the add on has had other issues for me, primarily that the eBay page needs to be in focus for the snipe button to appear. GM always worked well and efficiently.
I have been a subscriber since 2007 so gixen is now an integral part of my eBay use and I am really missing the ability to use it efficiently.
If you have any ideas on how it may be possible to stop the crashing or news on future plans for greasemonkey, I really would be grateful to hear from you.
Kind Regards,
Andy |

Andy, I don't think this should cause the browser to crash, but you should be able to find a new Gixen add-on, it has been approved by Firefox recently. Try that one. |

If it helps, I'm also running Firefox 41.0.2 under Windows 10, with V1.3.1 of the add-in, and I am not having any problems with it. |

Thank you Mario and Ramona.
I really can't explain then why I am having the problem.
I have tried clearing the cache and disabling all my other add ons and theme.
I then installed the new gixen add on straight from firefox and all works fine until I restart and then I have the crashing issue again.
I guess I will try creating a new profile and see if helps. I can only assume there is some kind of conflict with something else I have installed.
I'll let you know if I have any luck. |
