|
|
Hi,
I seem to be having a problem when I import snipes using a CSV file via the desktop app. I have both the website and desktop app main and mirror offsets set to 6 and 3 seconds respectively. However, when I import my snipes they all get imported as 6/6 off sets.
This then has the knock on affect of a Gixen hitting the ebay captcha request if the the two mirrors are attempting to place bids at the same time (or at least this is what I've concluded from my testing). At offsets of 3/6 no issues, at 6/6 gixen returns the ebay captcha error (I have followed the help pages captcha proxy settings instructions for this).
So is there any way to fix the mirror offsets on import or stop to captcha error when the offsets are set to the same? Has anyone had an experience with this? Greatly appreciate some help.
Thanks |

I don't use the CSV import.. but the vast majority of my snipes (manually entered on the web interface) do have the same offset for Main and Mirror... however, I have not had any problems with Ebay inserting captcha images into the bidding, yet.
Do you set up snipes on many auctions that end in the same second?.. That has previously been reported as causing issues with Ebay. _________________ Mark |

I'm still fairly new to Gixen, but all the snipes (10-15) that I setup over the weekend failed with the same captcha error message. There was the odd couple that did go through. If I stagger the offsets as I've posted above, they all go through, or at least so far no problems...
I have UK for the first and US for the second mirror, would that make any difference? |

Since you say you have put the proxy in place... have you tried making any manual bids while it is active?
This theory that identical offsets make captchas more frequent is a new one.. perhaps Mario can comment on whether he believes there is any statistical tie up there, he is the only one with access to the sniping data that would confirm or refute the theory.

It isn't something I do either, to be honest... I only ever select an alternative target (usually I have both set to the UK site) if I suspect that there are some changes that Ebay has made that might affect my snipes... perhaps once every 18 months or so I might suspect that... it might have relevance since by doing that you are logging in to two separate Ebay sites at the same time... but I have my doubts that would be particularly relevant for Ebay in trying to detect what they would regard as suspicious activity. _________________ Mark |

Yes, I setup the proxy and and made some manual bids via my browser and I didn't get a captcha request. Which seems kind of odd really.
Today I have tested setting both mirrors to UK and leaving offsets to 6/6 after csv import, the first 3 snipes failed with a captcha error reported back. The rest I am changing over to staggered offsets, this is a fairly slow process.
If the csv imports would use my default offset settings that fix my issue, but there again it seems my problem is fairly specific to me. |
