Hi there!
Just bought second mirror and today was my first snipe here and it was not made due to "UNKNOWN ERROR (3)".
The error page says about seller have some buyer restrictions/conditions bla-bla-bla Rolling Eyes

The list number is 271319320989

My account registered on ebay.de
I'm from Russia, language on ebay.com defaulted to English.
Ebay emails me its messages in German.

Settings in here were set like this:

Gixen main target ebay site: Germany
Gixen mirror target ebay site: United Kingdom
Change ebay target site automatically if needed: Yes
Time offsets 3 s for both mirrors.

As for that listing, I was able to bid for it manual, there's no restrictions.
The item sold for some more than I put to sniper, but I want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong about settings or something to snipe my other bids.

Thank you.

Just a thought, why not add "bid +1 now" button to make sure bids accepted and everything set up as it should? Idea
It could be another advanced feature for subscribers only (as comments are for example).

This is the first time that I see that you were able to previously bid manually, and then restricted. I wonder if that seller imposed the restriction after your manual bids, as Gixen does nothing different than what you would do yourself.

"bid +1 now" is a good idea, I will consider adding something like that.

Yes, that was my first thought early in the morning then I stared at error description Shocked But seller seems adequate to me and never was showing any discomfort in sending item to my country or something like this. It was all agreed via ebay messaging before my first (manual) bid. Don't know. Should I ask him?

If not too much of a trouble, please do. I would like to know if the problem is on Gixen's side.

Here's the seller's answer on this issue:
Quote:
Hi, I'm sorry to hear that. I had originally restricted the item to EU residents until the first time you emailed me. I later added to the description after your bid. It wasn't my intention to restrict the item again, but I guess that's what eBay must have done. What a shame.

Weird thing, listing declares postage was available:
Quote:
Postage and packaging

Item location: Dublin, Dublin, Ireland
Postage to: United States, Australia, Canada, Europe

And even shipping cost for Russia was filled up correctly in its shipping/postage calculator.

Item number 331062334993
Same error arised.
I placed first bid by hand at ebay with no issues.
But at the ending Gixen gave me UNKNOWN ERROR (3).
Error description is the same.
Seems unusable Crying or Very sad

Did any of these auctions have a reserve price? I wonder if it's possible that ebay allows bids that are under the reserve despite restrictions (but not bids above the reserve price).

Which Ebay site are you placing your manual bids on?

As items were from Germany and UK I placed my bids respectively on ebay.de and ebay.co.uk
And so have set the mirrors here.
But I have to say what the items showed up correctly through the main ebay.com too. There were one or two items which not opened on ebay.com but ebay.de or ebay.co.uk only, but I did not bid on them.

Hello! I have the same issue. i have a us ebay account, and bidded manually on ebay.com on this ebay item: 201004962436
When it was placed in gixen, i received this error: UNKNOWN ERROR (3)

Can you explain why? My main and mirror server locations are both set to us.

Please advice a solution. I lost over 10 items after that. Gixen never bidded on an item from my ebay account.

hubergeor,

eBay returns an extra login screen after Gixen is already logged in. This usually means that they want a verification of some sort on your account. Try placing a bid manually and see if ebay asks for anything. If not, change your password to a very strong one and see if that helps.

I cannot get a successful bid any more since I bought the mirror service. Have lost at least 30-50 auctions with unknown error 3. I can bid and win manually with the same sellers. Here are some of the auction numbers:400635621656,400635622360,400635719447,370975203981,310834287565, 350967301067.

j_wezl,

For some reason ebay asks for confirmation of your account, as it detects login from a new IP address. I do not know why, as this is quite rare. I responded to your email, let's take it off forum and see how we can solve this.

Tried to bid again via Gixen on this lot 251419692325

The same UKNOWN ERROR(3) appeared:

"Der Verkäufer hat für diesen Artikel einen eingeschränkten Käuferkreis festgelegt und verkauft nur an Käufer, die bestimmte Voraussetzungen erfüllen.
Sie können aus folgenden Gründen für diesen Artikel nicht bieten bzw. ihn nicht kaufen:"

I had placed first bid on this item manually with no issues at all.

Actually I have one succesfull bidding on 15 JAN 2014 on item 201014965023. This lot was from Canadian seller, the problem ones from Europeans. Maybe I can't use Gixen for other than ebay.com's items?

Thanks.

cmexonat,

Was this snipe Mirrored, if so what was the status on the Mirror tab, was that exactly the same?

What do you have your target site(s) set to on your Settings page here on Gixen?

Is your target the same site that you are placing your manual bids?

If the target is the same the next thing I would do is ask the seller if they made any changes to the conditions on the auction, after you placed your first bid... the error message indicates that you were restricted from bidding on this auction... that is from the page that Gixen will have received from Ebay when it tried to place the bid in the same way as you would do manually... Gixen is doing it from a location/locations (depending on whether you have a Mirror subscription or not) in the United States though... where are you located?

AUCTION RESTRICTED: REQUIREMENTS NOT MET
Quote:

Germany, GB
Registered at Germany's ebay.

The same, ebay.de both.
Quote:

Auction listing has one change since I place my bid manually.
Code:
16.01.14   11:31:16 MEZ
Versandbedingungen
Galerie

That is changing in shipping policy. Could be this affect Gixen's behaver. But at first glance no restrictions were added or removed, it's all as then I place my bid. hipping chrges to my country is there and just the same.

Change in the shipping policy definitely could have affected this. The message you saw (in German) is received from eBay (Gixen saved this response page), and I don't think you would receive such a specific message by some error in how the bid was submitted by Gixen.

Used Gixen for the first time today and both auctions gave me the unknown error (3).

ebay item nos. 111260801313 and 370993071865

I had manually entered a bid on the first one with no problems.

The error did not show up until the auction was over. Prior to the auction being over it appeared that my bid would be entered.

frieden, see below. This is what Gixen received while trying to place a bid for you.

I am suspecting this happened because you used Gixen Desktop Manager to schedule these snipes. As a result, Gixen didn't know what browser you usually use when accessing eBay, and "imitated" one of the common ones in use, but not the one you use.

Please try to schedule the next snipe using the web interface instead. It seems that I need to think over what to do about GDM.

How long has this account been registered with EBay?

I am wondering if this is a check that Ebay has introduced for newer users.

LOL... Well it's not that then.

Is this the first time that you have used a sniping service in all that time?

The truth is - I don't know what is triggering this. Only a tiny percent of customers is affected (a few a day at most), and to this day I haven't figured out what makes these customers different.

It is a difficult one if every time Gixen tries to place a bid this is what happens for some users...

I think, if it were me, I would try logging in from a different computer... if possible even in a different town, and try placing a bid and see if I get the same verification page... I would take my mobile (cell phone) with me so that Ebay's system could verify via that.

My thinking is that once I had got through that verification once maybe Ebay would let my account log in from other locations as well and so Gixen would be able to bid for me again.

No, I have used AuctionSentry for years but since moving I have limited internet service so wanted to get away from using a service that requires me to have the computer on the internet to place the bid.

OK, Auction Sentry appears to be desktop software, so it logs in from your own computer?

What I meant by a 'service' is something like Gixen where the computer that does the sniping is remote from your own.

Where are you based, by which I mean which country... perhaps that may provide a link between the few cases that Mario has seen?
