Had UNKNOWN ERROR (3) 2X last night on items 310830830292 AND 321285125656. Sold for less than my max bid but it didn't get my bid in. I use these sellers all the time. The mirror service had same error. This has happened a couple other times this week.

j_wezl, this happens when ebay displays an additional login screen after Gixen already logs in. At this point I do not know why, except that it's account related in some way, and affects only a tiny fraction of users. I am adding additional logging to try to understand why this happens.

yes, the message means that the auction was restricted for paypal-customers only.
but in the auction itself there was not such a restriction, and i do have a paypal account. don´t know what happened, never had this problem before.

my paypal-account was not linked with my ebay-account.
i´ve done it now, hope that helps, but as i said there was no restriction for paypal only, credit card was accepted too.

Unfortunately these restrictions are not evident on the auction page, it is only when you come to bid that Ebay blocks the bid with the failure message like the one that Mario posted above.

The choice to have the restriction is chosen by the seller when they list the item... not many sellers choose that restriction which is probably why you have never had this problem before.

Yes, what you have done to link your Paypal account to your Ebay account was what was required to prevent this restriction from affecting your bids. This is the only way that Ebay knows, for sure, that you do have a Paypal account.
