The Mirror tab indicates:
"Your Gixen mirror subscription is good until Sat, Nov 2, 2013"
but it lists no item. is that a known bug?
my ebay username is "tristan-sf". |

ah, please disregard. i found this:
"Are they group snipes? Group snipes are not copied over to mirror, only single snipes."
all my snipes are group snipes... that would explain?
just curious: why are group snipes not copied to the mirror? |

loupiote,
They are not copied to the Mirror because the process that cancels later snipes, when you win one, must be independent on any particular server... but if the Mirror won a Group item the Main would also need the later snipes cancelled... the process would not be independent, thus it is best to avoid the issue and have group snipes only execute on one server.
By definition a normal Group each snipe is replaceable with any other, you only want to win one... so the added reliability of having the Mirror backup is not as essential. _________________ Mark |

pk, i understand, but there could still be some communication between the two servers for cancelling the other bids of a group after one has been won by one of the servers. this would be technically doable, if you wanted to do it (but it would require some work). |

My point is that it is possible, yes.. but it makes the two servers dependant upon each other to provide the full service... this would not be desirable for the service as a whole which has been specifically designed so that the servers operate, as far as possible, independently of one another in order to provide a more reliable service overall.
So we should not want to do it, because we should want to have as reliable a sniping service as possible. _________________ Mark |
