eBay is having maintenance that may have gone wrong so ebay.com is available intermittently at best. At the moment I am getting resets when trying to access it from the browser.

This obviously causes snipes to fail from Gixen. At this point there is nothing that can be done about it, except to wait.

You may see either one of the following failure messages:

EBAY ERROR: LOGIN TIMEOUT
Sign in information is not valid.
EBAY ERROR: EBAY TECHNICAL PROBLEM
EBAY ERROR: LISTING REMOVED
NETWORK ERROR
CANCELED - SIGN IN NOT VALID

Unfortunately there is nothing that could be done about it - when ebay is down, it's down for everything.

I am so sick, lost 5(6?) bids. I know it's not Gixen, just wanted to cry about it. Maybe I'll win on re list.

Mario, thanks for being here and offering this service. I know this does not happen often and that you can't do anything about it, I was even having an issue logging into my ebay account and went on Gixen and realized there was a big problem, hopefully ebay will get it back together soon! Mario, thanks for being on top of things and letting your users know what happened. We know this has absolutely nothing to do with GIXEN, you can't snipe what isn't there. But proactively letting your customers know what caused the situation = outstanding proactive customer service.

This is the first time I have missed out on an item due to this. When I saw the email with "NETWORK ERROR (1)" and that my bid my was higher than the winning bid, I was bummed. However, I know that it is not your fault and thank you again for this great service.

Thanks for the update, lost an item but gixen has won me so much more in the past.

Abit shameful of ebay of not informing users of the disturbance.

Will still continue using gixen but may wait afew weeks until the error has been reported corrected.

Ebay reported, yesterday, that the problems were related to an overrun of scheduled maintenance... whether or not you give that credence... I have seen no issues with my Ebay browsing since yesterday afternoon (UK time).

Two failed snipes this evening despite no ebay down time / maintenance in evidence.

scenewrecker,

Was 'LOGIN TIMEOUT' the status of both snipes after the auctions had finished?

Were the snipes Mirrored, and if so what was the status on the Mirror tab?

My apologies - there were some timeouts from Gixen main today. I am looking at the issue. About 25% of Gixen users were affected. At this point I am still not sure what caused this.

Cupid,

Neither were mirrored and the first item "Failed" completely (no bid placed). No mention of login timeouts on either (second item I've just received a "Bid under asking price" email).

Can't get desktop manager to display anything at all now.

I think there is some maintenance happening to the interface at the moment.

There was a database issue on one of the backend servers that caused many snipes to fail today. Around 25% of users were affected by this, excluding mirror subscribers. My apologies for that. The issue is resolved now.

There's a beautiful irony to this.

The first item listed above I had offered the seller a Buy It Now offer of GBP 25.00 to which he replied "Only if I was drunk and in need of money which I'm not" (nice attitude).

Undeterred I set Gixen to snipe with a max bid of GBP 37.50 - but the snipe failed.

Guess how much the shoes sold for? GBP 18.01

Karma.
