Any thoughts about allowing import from a user list other than the watch list? My watch list is usually close to the max of 200 items, but I keep "sublists" of items in certain categories and would like to be able to import one of the smaller lists.

Dave, there was some discussion on this in the past, e.g. making a wizard that would allow users to select what they want imported, and I see it being very useful, only I never actually found time to implement that, and I still have far more pressing priorities.

Mario, Thanks for the reply.

I think long term it would be something a lot of users would be interested in using. The watch list to me is a first level "hey, I want to consider bidding on these items", then pull a sub-group of items from the watch list into smaller lists for import "today", or some other selection criteria, etc.

I currently do it by using Firefox / Firebug to pull from a "list page" the html for the "table" with class="my_itl-iT" into Notepad++ where I use the "tidy" function and save as XML, then run it through a XSL transformation to obtain the CSV format for importing. I then add my snipe amounts to the CSV and import using Gixen.

Having a wizard would cut out a lot of my old-style grunt work....

Thanks, Dave.

Just to clarify, I would want the wizard only to import the smaller, user created eBay list, not do the selection stuff or have anything to do with creating the smaller eBay list...

Dave, I haven't looked at this for a while, does eBay allow you to have user-defined lists?

Yes, I forget when eBay started allowing them.

I use them to manage the items that I am interested in. Each day I get "search result emails" from eBay, which I then review and add items to the watch list.

The watch list still has a max of 200 items, so having the ability to create the users own lists is invaluable to me. I "prune" from the watch list to the user list.

The user lists allow me to organize by sellers, dates, and other lists are for categories of items that I routinely buy, etc.

Ultimately things end up on the "Gixen List" where I do my html scraping / XSL transformation to create the CSV file to upload.

OK, let me see if I can do something about it, e.g. allow user to specify the list from which the items should be imported.

OK, this is what I could do quickly.

You can now import a list called "Gixen list" (note that it *has* to be called that way, case sensitive), there is a specific button for that added to the interface.

I hope this helps you.

Adding ability to add any list would require much more time and development effort - I don't see how I could do it without of wizard of some kind, or at least an addition drop box.

Thanks Mario,

I ran a quick test, it selected the proper list and the import was successful.

I wish you had a "donate" button, but I did the next best thing and upped my subscription by a couple of years.
