There was a major outage tonight, caused by backbone fiber line rupture some 30 miles from the main Gixen hosting facility, as I was informed by CoreNetworks. The snipes were failing between 5.28pm PDT and 8.52pm PDT with the "LOGIN TIMEOUT" message.

The mirror server was fortunately operating flawlessly during this time, so mirror subscribers should not be affected by this, except for any scheduled group bids.

The entire Gixen site is operational again now, and snipe execution and site accessibility are back to normal.

My apologies to the affected users.

Not an impressive first start for a paying customer, but I'll cede that it was outside of foreseeable circumstances.

An Ebay timeout with the mirror caused the snipe on my bid to fail, so I can't attest to much on the other server.

I don't know how often interruptions or outages occur with this service, but having your website separate from the sniping servers might have helped to get word out to the users. That or at least a Twitter account. Seems silly and dated not to.

If you are a mirror subscriber, I guarantee you that your snipe did not fail because of outage on the main server. Mirror server was completely unaffected. Click on the "Gixen Mirror - Miami" tab to see the status. Snipe on the mirror server was either won, your bid was too low, or there was a problem unrelated to the outage, such as an account problem.

Mirror server worked flawlessly during this time, as it was designed to do.

kenan35,

What is the status the Gixen has given these in the Mirror tab?

You got this status only on the main server. Mirror status is:

251015728437 - WON
251015729678 - BID UNDER ASKING PRICE
251015731794 - WON
300677822345 - OUTSNIPED
251015734702 - OUTBID

You can see the status if you click on "Gixen Mirror - Miami" tab. There wasn't a single failure for any of these auctions on the mirror server.

Boy, was I glad I subscribed to Gixen Mirror! Imagine my initial shock when I saw the timeout message for my dozen or so scheduled bids. But then I checked the Mirror tab and saw that most of my bids resulted in auction wins. Thank you, Mario, for offering this service and for also providing the Mirror at such a reasonable rate! Anyone would benefit by paying the small annual fee to join. As for me, I'm sure I saved more than $6 worth of aggravation -- MUCH more -- last night when the Mirror came through for me!
