Sigh...
6 months ago I purchased a macbook specifically in order to make an iphone app for Gixen. I made some initial progress, and then just didn't have time to complete it. I guess I realized at some point that it requires much more time and effort than I initially thought and had at my disposal.
I haven't given up yet though. |

Can't you just use Safari, go to the web page and place your snipe?
That is the beauty of Apple. You can usually just go one the web and do it normal. I am not on a leash anymore, that is I had one of the first iPhones the day that they came out, but I do not want one anymore. But when I did, I could open Safari and do just about anything that could be done at home. Try it and get back to us. Can you place your bids using Safari on your iPhone? |

Yes, it's certainly possible, and there is even a mobile version of Gixen that you will see when you use iPhone. A dedicated app would be better, of course. |

I would love this. I know objective-c and cocoa touch. I have never went through the whole process of submitting an app to the app store before but if no-one has developed one by the winter holidays, I could write the app and put it up on github or something. |

I can arrange that. Making an app is a big deal, these are minor issues. |

I am going to give this a try today. To see if I can fire out the base code an hour or something. I noticed you have minimal API I may try to honour the feature it has first just to make my life easy. |

Ok, I have started making an app. Nothing special just yet but has some basic functions. Adding/Deleting/Editing snipes. The only problem I can see is the format that is returned using the 'listsnipesmain' API call. ie '|#!#|1208080667|#!#|1321374636|#!#|0.99|#!#|N|#!#||#!#|Juice Cups|#!#|0|#!#|1|#!#|6|#!#| '
I think it would be better returning in XML format. Example:
<? xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<snipes>
<snipe index=1>
<itemid>1208080667</itemid>
<timestamp>1321374636</timestamp>
<maxbid>0.99</maxbid>
<status>N</status>
<message></message>
<title>Juice Cups</title>
<snipegroup>0</snipegroup>
<quantity>1</>
<bidoffset>6</bidoffset>
</snipe>
</snipes>
It's just idea. I will also post this in the API thread |

Oh, just saw now that this is for the iphone app?
I'll support you in any way possible, including adding &xml=1. Email me, you will need a few more things than just xml. |
