I'm new at sniping and decided to watch on eBay as the item I scheduled to snipe counted now to the end of the auction. I was disappointed to see that my snipe was not even attempted even though the current bid at less than 30 seconds to go was lower than my maximum snipe amount. Why didn't Gixen submit my snipe amount? I even checked the automatic bid history to see if my name appeared with a bid amount and it didn't. What happened?

Thanks. I have another snipe scheduled for tomorrow and I really want to win it.

What was the status on Gixen after the auction had finished?

Was your snipe for more than 22.50?

Your maximum bid was actually lower than the winning bid... There was nothing that Gixen could have done about it.

Yes, in the last 10 seconds or so, the winning bid submitted was higher than my snipe, but I never saw my snipe bid appear before that. I thought that my 20.00 bid would have appeared at about 35 seconds to the end of the auction, but there's no evidence that Gixen attempted to submit my highest bid amount. The highest bid before the last 10 seconds or so was for 18.50. I expected my bid to appear before the winning bidder finally submitted the winning bid of 21.50. Wouldn't my 20.00 bid, submitted by Gixen, show up in the automatic bidding history? Thanks for all the help explaining this. This is a very new field of knowledge for me, and I just want to understand it so as to know how best to utilize it.

I've just gone back and looked at the automatic bids again and it is showing my bid by Gixen now. I guess that it didn't record it immediately after the auction ended. I see now that the snipe did work. So pleased to see that I was simply out-sniped. Thanks for addressing my concerns.

You have to be logged in to eBay to see your name in the bid history.

Under default circumstances Gixen would not attempt to place the bid until there were only 6 seconds remaining for the auction to run... so if the price was not acceptable to eBay at that time you would not expect to see your bid placed.

I lost the auction because gixen did not place the bid at all. This is really wierd because in the gixen list the auction still says it is scheduled while in reality it was ended (24 hour difference). Any help here?

Have you seen the message on the top of the listing?

"This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."

Yes I see that message but if I'm not mistaken, the actual auction end timer is correct which is -24 hours before the gixen time. I don't actually have the data to prove that though

I think you are saying that the Gixen interface has not yet detected that the auction was finished early by the seller?

It isn't a complaint that Gixen could have bid on it, is it? ... Mario has already justified why that would have been impossible.

It's not - the original end time was 6/30/11 02:08:54 AM PDT.
The seller ended auction early on 6/29/11 02:02:13 PM PDT.
