I upped my Gixen bid 20 minutes before the auction closed but the revised bid was not entered, how much time do you need?

Actually my earlier high bid may have won it but that wasn't submitted either!

Really pissed off now, I could have won this, please give some guide lines in terms of time is needed to increase you max Gixen bid coz this sucks!

Can you provide the auction number so that this can be looked at?

Normally about 2 minutes before the auction finishes is a sufficient time for changes to take affect.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the reply and picking this up. The auction number is 230623047367. A Sous Vide Immersion Heater.

I put in a max of GBP 112.50 but saw that price may get beaten so increased it to GBP 125.77. but the item sold for GBP 109.77 it would appear without my bid being entered by either the main or mirror?

Had previously just a couple of days ago successfully used Gixen to win another item.

Thanks
Barry.

bazz747, I can see the last edit only 16 seconds before auction end. What were you doing, refreshing the screen?

Hi Mario,

I did a screen refresh, wanted to check what the current bid price was. Was that what screwed things up? If so I will know not to do that again!

Thanks,
Barry.

Using refresh can mess things up if you have just done an edit as the browser thinks you want to repeat the update, this causes the snipe to be cancelled if it is just before the auction is due to end.

If you want an update it is best to use the 'Add' button without entering any data in the fields.

Mario, to alleviate this problem (I know you have tried many times before) would it be possible to add some code that detects that no change is requested from an Edit and not cancel the snipe as a result.

Hi Mark,

I understand, in future I will do that until/unless Mario can provide a fix. Thanks for the explanation, I am sure that is what caused the problem. I am new to Gixen although not new to eBay.

Thanks Mario and Mark for your help.

Barry.

Barry, in fact there is a code in place to prevent this, however for some reason some customers are still able to do a refresh after an edit. I am unable to replicate the problem though.

Mario, ok so I will stick with what Mark said as I don't want to risk it happening again and loosing the snipe.

Thank you both once again for your help.

Barry.
