I tried gixen on a 18+ category item and the result was "CANNOT BID - ITEM IN ... CATEGORY".
Why? Is there any intermediate step that gixen cannot get past...?
If I dont want to be in front of the PC, is ebay's proxy bid system the only way out?? A little disappointing. |

I think there is an intermediate step while bidding... If you try manually you could perhaps report back what it looks like... if it requires some personal information in order to continue then Gixen would not be able to provide it at present.
I'm sure this has been looked at before but I cant remember if there was any potential solution. _________________ Mark

I looked at it months ago, and I remember I gave up after a few days of work. It wasn't easy. I intend to try again to resolve this. |

I believe this is fixed now. Gixen should submit bids on adult items properly from now on. |

Maybe it worked for a while, but it's failing repeatedly now. I was bidding on some comics, and all of the bids went through (winning or otherwise) except the ones that were in the A-D-U-L-T section because they had risque cover art. In each of these cases, not only was the bid not submitted, Gixen reported that my bid was too low (in some cases it would have been, in others not) and it bizarrely reported the actual winning bid price as much lower than it really was. I think what is happening is that the "yes I want to see A-D-U-L-T items" cookie expires and Gixen doesn't realize, so it can't get the current item info (price) nor submit bids, but doesn't recognize the error condition it is in. Just guessing, but I can't think of any other explanation right off hand. Suggests to me that eBay monkeyed with the A-D-U-L-T access crap again.
I've set up some tests (items in the A-D-U-L-T category I'm willing to bid on and buy if I win, but won't be bummed if I lose):
350511689492 - ends Dec 08, 201113:46:45 PST (tomorrow)
160696037831 - ends Dec 11, 201120:59:10 PST
380392180953 - ends Dec 11, 201120:59:10 PST
Don't worry - it's nothing hardcore, if you need to go look at the auction pages. No one's virgin eyes will be assaulted by anything more risque than cartoon boobies or buns.
I set them for different offset times, as a further test. |

What would help me the most is an item id of an auction that ended that Gixen says the bid was too low, while it wasn't as you say. Note that sometimes it's not enough that your bid is higher, it has to be higher for a certain increment.
As for final price being shown too low, final price update sometimes fails, but this is irrelevant, it has no effect on sniping. |
