Item number is 201615080481. OK, so I place a 3 second bid with a 6 second mirror one. Watching the end of the auction and waiting for my bid to kick in and nada. Got the EBay message that sorry I missed out on the item or some such. Checked Gixen and see the dreaded password error and say oh shoot, or rather something that rhymes with "it". Here's where it gets strange. I WON the auction!?! I'm delighted but perplexed. What went on here? |

You only scheduled the snipe once using Gixen?
Have you actually changed your password recently?... I know many have.
Have you checked what it says on both the Main and the Mirror tabs with he Mirror due to place the bid first I would usually expect that one to be the most significant? _________________ Mark |

I replied before but don't see it. Yes, GIXEN was the only snipe. I had to change my password as my account was breached. It worked OK after though. The main server was at 3 secs and the mirror set the 6.
The exact same thing just happened again! ( 262511610557 ). Told it was sorry I lost, but I ended up winning, and auction was won by the mirror again.
How can I fix this? So strange! |

It is normal that if you have the Mirror set to place the bid first that is the one that will win.... The Main can't win it as well if the bid is already placed.
I thought your first post indicated that Ebay had sent you a message telling you that you had not won... but I think you are perhaps just talking about the Gixen Main server notifying you that it could not win?
If you want the Main to send the bid earlier you will have to choose an offset that is larger than the Mirror one before it will attempt to do so. _________________ Mark |

I'm curious - why on earth would you use different offsets on the Main and Mirror servers??? |

Doesn't Everyone ?
I certainly do !
I don't want eBay to see bids from my account hitting at exactly the same instant but from two completely different locations !
Why do you think you have the option to choose different offsets then ? |

Most often I do have the same offset on both... I have never had any issue as a result of two bids showing up at the same time on Ebay from different locations... but I accept that it does provide an induction that you are using an automated tool to place your bids...
I have never had any seller object to that but perhaps there are some that do. _________________ Mark |

This item was won by the mirror server, but I don't see a malfunction on main either - it had "bid under asking price" status, which is expected and normal (when mirror bid gets to ebay first).
As for initial message sent by eBay, I can't comment, I have no idea why it was sent. Maybe the process that sends it saw the winning bid too late, but that's just a speculation. |
