I just won an auction. I am wondering why ebay is showing the last bidder's highest bid as $45.00 and next bid shown (on all itemized bids) is my winning bid of $130.00. What happened to the other bidder's highest bid just under my $130.00? Can this be a mistake? From $45.00 to $130.00 is an awfully high jump in bids with nothing in the middle!!! Is this wrong? Another reason I am really wondering is that the seller now suddenly no longer has anything listed at all.

I forgot to say that it shows the other bidder at $43.00 then me at $440.00 then the other bidder at a maximum of $45.00, then it jumps up to me winning it for $130.00!!! That is a HUGE jump with nothing in the middle. I think this must be a mistake. Can a seller change the winning bids? Something seems radically wrong here. I don't mind paying $130.00, however, when it jumps from the other bidder's $45.00 to my $130.00 without showing any bids in the middle, I think I am getting ripped off somehow!
Can anyone please help?
Thanks

Was there a reserve price? This usually happens when there is a reserve price - eBay will bump you right above it if your bid is above the reserve. The previous bidder's maximum bid was obviously below reserve.

Thanks, Mario. I appreciate your reply. No, there was no reserve price listed. Maybe the person wanted more but they never listed a reserve in the original listing.
It was item # 252310373910

Thanks for your help. I am supposed to go pay for it now but if it is a mistake, I am not going to pay $84.00 higher than it should be!!!
By my calculations, I should have won at $46.00!

Thanks in advance for your help

It still looks to me like there had to be a reserve. But if you think there wasn't, please contact eBay and ask them about it. They are able to clearly see if there was or if there wasn't. That's the only way to know at this point.

On the page that shows the bids:

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=252310373910

near the top it says:

'Reserve met'

That is the indication that there was a reserve set by the seller.

Nothing unusual has happened, as Mario thought.

Yuppers - what happened is exactly what happens when bidding on an item with a reserve price. Just so people understand bidding on an item that has a reserve price - via gixen or not - straight from eBay:

pages.ebay.com/help/buy/reserve-price.html

Quote:
How bidding works for an item with a reserve price

When you bid on an item with a reserve price, if your maximum bid meets the reserve, it will automatically increase to meet that price. (emphasis added)

Example: A seller lists an item with a starting bid of $1.00 and a reserve of $100.00. Bidder A bids $1.50. The current bid increases to $1.50 but the reserve isn't met. If nobody else places a bid, Bidder A does not win the item.

Bidder B places a maximum bid of $150.00. The current bid increases to $100.00 (the amount of the reserve) and the reserve is met. If nobody else places a bid, Bidder B wins the item at the price of $100.00.

Thank you all. That is exactly what happened. However, when I saw the auction, I did not see a "reserve price" showing. Does it sometimes disappear after someone places the first bid? Or did I just miss it? The seller relisted it.

In my experience, it only disappears from the listing itself when the reserve is met.

I can't recall what a page will say if there is a reserve price set and no bids have been placed. But I do know that once at least one bid has been placed if the reserve has not been met the page will say Reserve not met in the box area for entering a bid.

Thank you all. Guess I missed it. Will remember to pay better attention from now on. Thanks for your help.
