Used Gixen a few days ago and it worked fine. But....now when I try to access ebay.com (not through Gixen) I am getting a proxy server error. I get this screen:

This webpage is not available

ERR_SOCKS_CONNECTION_FAILED

Does this have anything to do with Gixen? How can I fix this? I am using Google Chrome.

Thanks.....

Just fixed the problem. Had to go into internet options and uncheck the box to automatically allow Gixen to access Ebay in the connections tab.

Anyone else run into this problem? I guess in order to use Gixen again I will have to go back and change it again? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks....

I have never used Google Chrome so I am not familiar with the options available in it.

Are you saying that you have configured the Gixen socks proxy in your browser?

If so there is no need to have that configured and enabled in order tio use Gixen as a sniping tool.

The only reason you would need the Gixen socks proxy is if you need to verify your Ebay account against the Gixen server before Ebay will, once again, accept bids being placed on your behalf via that server. Even in those circumstances you only need to access Ebay via the Gixen socks proxy on a temporary basis while you complete the Ebay validation process.

If none of the above sounds familiar, are you setting up your snipes by logging into the web interface here, or are you using the Gixen Desktop manager for Windows?

Yes - you are correct. In order to use Gixen I had to go into internet options settings and tell it to use Gixen socks proxy in order to verify my ebay account.

I did not know this was temporary just to validate, so I left the Gixen socks proxy checked. Then when I tried to access ebay several days later - I couldn't.

So it seems based on your post that once my account was verified I should have set it back the way it was originally - but I didn't.

When I decide to use Gixen again, will it be necessary to re-validate my ebay account this way? Or, will it remember?

Thanks for your reply....

It should only be necessary to verify your Ebay account with Ebay against the Gixen server once. After that it should not be necessary for you to use the Gixen socks proxy and you can disable it without that affecting your Gixen sniping.

However, since it is Ebay and not Gixen that holds the data related to your verification, obviously it is in their hands what they do with it, and no one here can give a guarantee that Ebay will never seek any further verification from you.
