Hello, I'm new to sniping and gixen all together. I was wondering what, if any, advantage there is to using the GDM? I've heard a lot of complaints of people not getting their bids in at the last second because eBay required verification, likely because it recognized the bid coming from a foreign ip address (gixen server). If using the GDM, will this circumvent that? Thanks. |

No, the GDM does not submit bids, those are always handled by the Gixen servers.
The GDM is an alternative interface for setting up snipes, not for executing them.
It does get auction prices direct from Ebay, so the price updates are often reflected sooner in that interface, some people regard that as an advantage. _________________ Mark |

Okay, thanks for the reply. On that note - is there any sure fire way to avoid the 'captcha' verification while sniping? I will likely manually bid on the auction that I'm looking at right now because it is literally a must have item so I can't take the chance, but for future reference it would be nice to know if there's a solution. Thanks. |

There is nothing that is 100% in life.
There is always a risk that something can go wrong with the bid... however small that risk it exists and always will.
So, it comes down to confidence... I have used this service for many years with my Ebay account, so I know that it never lets me down, that's with tens of thousands of auction snipes that I have set up over those years.
In your case, if this auction is of such great importance to you, presuming you don't yet even have a Mirror subscription?.. then, I would bid manually myself as late as I felt comfortable.. bearing in mind manual bids, from your own computer, also have some risk of failing.
Then I would build my confidence by using this service for less important auctions... and if you are going to use it often, by which I mean more than about once a month, I would also recommend that you invest $6 for a years worth of Mirror subscription.
So in summary the most 'sure fire way to avoid the 'captcha' verification while sniping' is to use the service for a while with your own account.. but, obviously, I can't give you that experience, you have to gain it for yourself. _________________ Mark |
