Hi,

I've just lost a bid because someone put an automatic bid on ebay.

So I am wondering what's the point of using a sniper (gixen or another) since ebay can do the same?

Maybe I didn't understand something, sorry...

thanks

The advantage that you have with placing the bid in the last seconds is that others do not have the time to react to your bid.

Of course if someone has already decided they are willing to pay more than your snipe amount, and have placed a bid on Ebay accordingly, you are not going to win.. all you are going to achieve with a snipe in those circumstances is make the other bidder pay more than you were willing to pay.

This is why, if you are going to snipe, thorough research of the item you are looking to buy is essential in helping you to decide the amount that is the absolute maximum you are willing to pay.
