Hello All, I had issue with the dreaded "verification code required" today? No big deal because the item was not anything special. I have looked at other posts but still am not sure. Is this something that ebay does every once in a while as some have posted? I do have Mirror so does that help?. I've had no issues prior and in this case I had changed my offset from 6 to 8. Does changing offsets matter? Honestly, I am seriously lacking computer skills which is why I am here and have mirror as a back up. I do not think I will be able to follow the instructions that came with the message and do not want to lose some items I have coming up. What should I do? See how things play out or try what is suggested? Other than this Gixen has been Great!! Salutations, Pete G

Gixen Mirror does not help, (or hinder, I think) with the issue of Ebay requesting codes on your account when Gixen tries to log in from its servers. What offsets you use make no difference either, so far as we know here.
Ebay have not as far as I know said what triggers them to take these measures against accounts from time to time. I think that since the measures are related to security it is unlikely that they ever will.. and that the circumstances are in constant flux in any case, as and when they determine the nature of the threats that Ebay and their account holders face.
It is possible that the measures will be temporary and never return to your account, but unless you take some measures to reduce the possibility it is more likely that they will remain or be imposed again.
The best guess that we have here is that the measures seem often to be related to changing Ebay credentials, logging in from different locations (that is exactly what you do by scheduling snipes on a sniping service like Gixen, and logging into Ebay often without placing any bids (the Import List functions here do that, so using them extensively, is not advisable any more).
I would advise you to try following the instructions that Mario provides when these measures are detected, and if you find it difficult or impossible then seek help from others to complete those steps... you may be able to suggest improvements to the instructions for others, if you do manage to get through them.. and that would be a positive contribution to the Gixen community that I am sure would be appreciated. _________________ Mark |

I have had a couple of these also lately. But mirror still bid and won most of them (mirror is 3sec offset, normal 6).
Was pretty random. Maybe 3-4 items in a round of 20 in a timeframe of 10 hours. |

I had the same issue using my previous sniper provider: many years' excellent service then out of the blue what seemed to me a prolonged series of attempts by eBay to disrupt my snipes.
Eventually I moved to Gixen. Now the same pattern is emerging: 100% trouble-free snipe placing over several years with excellent results but now some serious auction losses due to verification issues, no matter what I do.
Sadly it looks like I will be moving on again. (Gixen was the best!) |

foresterdon,
There may well be a better solution... by verifying your account against the Gixen server... you will need details of how to set up the Gixen Proxy in order to achieve that though.. those are provided on a need to know basis.. so please email Mario at the support address given on the 'Contact' tab above... explain the issue and he will provide you with guidance if that is what is required to resolve the situation for your account. _________________ Mark |
