Can't associate with Gixen IPs

Hello.
I am trying to get my Gixen sniping again.
I have followed the advice step by step, with reference to Firefox (being used on Windows XPSP3).
My User Name and Password are accepted by eBay.co.uk if I login directly to the site, but I can never get into Step 3 of the proxy setup.
I keep flushing my cookies (all of them, not just specific eBay ones);
Firefox accepts the Automatic Proxy Configuration URL;
but refreshing the page still says that I am not connected to Gixen socks proxy.

I am following the instructions to the letter, and my password only contains lower case and upper case alphas, plus numerics.

Any way you can suggest I move forward ( easy steps - I'm a newbie to proxys) - at least before my hair-tearing makes me totally bald.

Please try again - there was a problem with that page - it may have said that you are not connected through proxy while in reality you were.
