|
|
Am bidding on an item on eBay.com.au (Item # 221698309484 ).
Gixen is showing the current bid is AUD 20.50 but if I look at the bidding history on eBay.com.au the real bidding past this level 3 days ago.
That is confusing but when Gixen bids will it refer to the true current bid or will it look at its own record of the bidding.
Have signed out and logged in again but Gixen is still showing this long non current bid.
Have used Gixen & Gixen mirror very successfully in the past but this time something looks wrong.
Thanks in advance, Graham |

Looking at the history from the UK site the bid that bought the price up to 20.50 was placed at 28-Feb-15 01:28:06 GMT, the bid that held the high spot after that time was placed days before.. however, that does not mean the auction price was that high for that long. It was not until 01-Mar-15 06:24:08 GMT, just a few hours ago, that the price was raised above that level.
As you are probably aware the Gixen web interface updates the auction prices periodically, this is by design... immediate updates would be much too costly in terms of resources.
If you require more frequent updates I would recommend using the Gixen Desktop Manager on a machine that runs the Windows operating system, this uses the resources of your own computer to retrieve the prices and the update rate can be tailored.
In any case, the current auction price is provided as a convenience. So, to reassure you, it does not reduce the effectiveness of the sniping function to have an out of date price displayed on the web interface. _________________ Mark

Thanks very much for your quick reply. The timing get of eBay automatic bids is confusing.
Delayed update does not concern me as long as it is accurate when the bid is closing.
Thank you |

I think your second paragraph says it all, Aussietraks.
Gixen doesn't actually need to know the current value of the auction at any time (even when the bid is closing) - all that it has to do is to place your bid at the period before auction end that you have specified. If that bid is too low (e.g. because the auction price is already higher), then eBay will simply reject it.
If you do need to know the current price, then, as cupid says, you could use GDM, or save it in your eBay Watch list and view it there.
As a general rule (yes, I know there will be exceptions) you shouldn't need to know either! The whole point of a sniper like Gixen is that you find an item you want to buy on Bay, decide (after doing appropriate research) how much you are willing to pay for it, place the snipe in Gixen and then forget about it until the auction is over. |
