Is it smart or beneficial to have the main set different than the mirror ? like 6 seconds for the main and 3 seconds for the mirror ? or just best to leave at the default 6 seconds for both . thanks -dt |

Both will work fine, there is no practical difference. |

Some people prefer that they never have two bids showing on Ebay submitted at the same time, since that can indicate that you are using an automated tool. By setting different offsets you will only ever have one bid submitted by Gixen.
I personally have both my offsets set at a default of 8 seconds and the fact that I sometimes have two bids at that time has never caused me any issue that I am aware of. _________________ Mark

Mark, two bids at the same time is almost always OK. But more than that can start causing problems, and the likelyhood goes up as number of bids at the same time goes up. Even for two, I would still use different offsets, just in case. |

Mario,
I think we are a bit at cross purposes here... in this case I am referring to the two bids you sometimes get on the same item when you have the same offset on Mirror and Main...
It is on some other threads that we have been discussing the new check/warning on bids on different items that end at the same time. It is to those cases that, I think, the advice to have different offsets applies? _________________ Mark |

Mark, main and mirror having the same offset is OK, no problems with that. I suppose that's because the same item is being sniped, so eBay is not making an issue out of it. |

I've been thinking about the bid time offset, and this thread comes closest to answering my question, but I still don't understand how offset bidding would help me win an auction. I'm using Gixen Main and Mirror sites, and the Mirror - worth every penny btw - won a couple of times. Both were set at three seconds prior to auction end. So...
- Why bid earlier than three seconds prior to auction close?
- Why bid three seconds from the main Gixen site and six or something from the Mirror site, or vice-versa? It's odd, but not a problem when I (rarely) see two bids from myself made at the same time.
You're doing a great job, and I appreciate the Import Watch List and other improvements you've made since I joined. |

Twenty4pack,
My most recent explanation of how later snipe times can be less successful than earlier ones was on this thread on Thu Dec 04:
