Hey,
i'm new here. Can someone tell me how I use the groups properly?
How is an article effected by beeing in the same group with another one?
Are there any options?
Best regards

Johann, it's very simple. If you add 5 items into the same group (e.g. Group 1), Gixen will keep bidding until it wins only one of them, then it will cancel the rest. |

Awesome! So grouping is not trying to win all bids but first of any bid. That's awesome. |

That is correct, for normal Groups you are just trying to win one of the items that you put in the same group.
There are some more advanced variations on that behaviour, available if you have a Mirror subscription... but even then you have to configure your settings before they become active on your sniping account. _________________ Mark |

I'm sure it's very easy, if you know how. But I don't know how to set up a group. I haven't been able to find any instructions, help, or guidance. This topic seems like it ought to cover the subject, but like everything else in Support, it assumes that the reader knows how, or will figure it out without any guidance. Perhaps it seems obvious to everyone else, but it isn't obvious to me. If it is obvious, then it ought to be easy to explain in a sentence or two.
Is there a place on the site with simple instructions to simple activities? I've been looking, and haven't found it. |

When you log in to Gixen, you should see, at the top of the screen, three fields labelled "eBay item number", "Your bid" and "Bid Group".
Hopefully the purpose of the first two of these are obvious. The third is a drop-down list from which you can choose "Group 1", "Group 2" up to "Group 10".
Let's say that you are after a particular widget, but you don't want to pay more than 100 pounds/dollars/zloty/shekels/whatever for one. We'll also use "Group 3" (for no particular reason - you could choose any number) for this exercise.
As you find examples of the widget on eBay, you would enter them in to Gixen, giving the eBay number, your maximum bid (which might vary from widget to widget depending on condition, shipping charges, currency, etc) and selecting Group 3 from the drop-down.
When you have done this, you will have a number of auctions in Gixen - and under the auction number, on the left hand side, you will see "Group : 3".
When the first auction reaches its conclusion, Gixen will bid for you. If you win the auction, Gixen will cancel all the other bids in Group 3 (you only wanted to buy one widget, remember). If, on the other hand, you are outbid, then Gixen will wait and bid on the second auction in the group. It will keep on doing this until you have won a widget (or it runs out of auctions to bid on - in which case you have either been very unlucky or unrealistic in your expectations of how cheaply you can buy a widget!)
Hope that this makes sense. |
