Bid not placed, snipe placed 16 hours before auction end

I placed a snipe on a book, 16+ hours before auction end, have not changed it, but it did not execute. Here the details:

301400028848 ENDED 10.77 5.05 1 UNKNOWN ERROR (3)

The highest bid at the time I placed the snipe was about 3 EUR. My snipe maximum was 10.77 EUR, and the book was sold for 5.05 EUR.

Can someone tell me what "UNKNOWN ERROR (3)" is?

Hello again,

it looks like eBay wanted me to change the password. I do not know why, and since when. I admit that I did not log in to my account for a very very long time, but I do not know of any policy that I should periodically change my eBay password ...
