|
|
Hi, could someone please tell me if ther is a way that I could get bid increments over ny bid amount. So if I am going to lose by $1.00, it can bid over my set amount. Another snipe site has this option and it has won quite a few auctions for me.
Also, what is the best lead time. I have both mirror sites, the default is 6 but I can change it, but am unsure what the best time would be.
Thanks for helping me.

A site that bids above the amount you have set is not one I would use because the amount I set as the bid amount is the maximum that I am willing to pay. Any more than that and my view is that the winner has paid too much.
If you always set your bid at the maximum you are willing to pay there is no need for options like you suggest.
The offsets are options for you to set because there is no universal agreement about what the best settings are, it depends on many factors including how well defined the value is, the number of potential snipers and whether the current bid is close to the maximum amount you are willing to pay. _________________ Mark |

The bid increment is an option that, even though you put a maximum bid, it allows the snipe site to place one (or more depending what you set) additional bids in for you, so the item you are bidding for is not lost by 50cents, for example.
I was enquiring if Gixen had this option, as I have found it helpful. As it stands, I'll just offset my max bid.
The other question about offset, is this the time before end of auction that gixen starts putting bids in? And is it better to have a higher offset in busy times for example weekend. And should you set the offset on the mirror site the same as main.
Thank you |

The feature was discussed at more length when it was introduced by Auction Sniper here:
http://www.gixen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5871
and elsewhere on this forum when the subject has been bought up, since then, you can use the search feature of this forum to find those.
Yes, the offset is the amount of time, in seconds before the auction ends, that Gixen tries to place your bid. The two Gixen servers can be set independently for each snipe you set up.
There is no universal agreement about what the best settings for offset are, that is why they are options for you to choose. I personally prefer higher offsets than 6 seconds at all times... however, when the auction ends has never affected my choice of offset. _________________ Mark |
