How did someone snipe exactly at the auctions end?

It's item #231338334268. The auction ended Sep-27-14 18:26:50 PDT, and the winning snipe was at Sep-27-14 18:26:50 PDT. Is there something that could do that, or was it just a fluke in the way Ebay processed the bid winning late? There are lots of those items that go up for sale so not upset losing it, but it's a bit disconcerting so see your bid placed so close to the end, and then see another higher one right at the end. Guess I can't assume anything...LOL. Gixen's 3 second bids have been placed actually at 2 seconds. Would love to know what happened here.

Also, both my regular bid, and mirror bid show as placed. Why would Ebay accept both when they are the same amount? I thought only one is accepted. Thanks in advance for your wonderful customer support.

It's possible to snipe at the last second, but it's risky and it's pointless. That bid was certainly not a reaction to your 3-second snipe, it was pre-scheduled independently of it. Had your bid arrived after it, you would have been outbid (or possibly have "bid under asking price" status) instead of being outsniped. So it wouldn't make any difference, as you still wouldn't win.

To address your other question... Ebay often accepts both bids when you give them the same offset.. this is because the Ebay processor was not fast enough to reject the later bid after accepting the first.

If you want to stop it ever happening you would need different offsets on the two Gixen servers... of course in this case that would also mean your bid was placed earlier.. that would not made any difference to the result in this case though.
