|
|
Hi tried many times this morning to import list. Is there a technique? Something I'm doing wrong? Does the fact that I now have it as an app on my ipad cause problems?
Thanks

Sporadically, have been experiencing the same problem.
To overcome, I cut and paste the item number - which is slow if this problem arises on a busy day
Problem seems to go away by itself in hours, or a day |

Is this import being triggered from the web interface here or via the Ipad App?
Adding items manually is always a work around, but, agreed, it's not a convenient one when you are used to the import feature working. _________________ Mark |

Mark - in my case, always a laptop
Over the last month - had about 3, maybe 4 evenings where this was a problem - last night was one of those
The next day - all good again |

Let me explain why this happens.
As you probably noticed, eBay is stepping up their efforts to fight fraud, and the whole thing started after they had a security breach on or around May 21st of this year.
As a consequence of this, even uses that are not fraudelent suffer, including sniping services. This wouldn't happen if we were allowed to use eBay's API, which we are not. Since all sniping services work by imitating a web browser (by doing web scraping), we cannot pass certain blocks, such as captcha images.
These captcha images get triggered by various behaviour, and when this happens everyone is affected. I am doing my best to isolate things as much as possible (e.g. sniping is already isolated from signins), and specifically to detect users who do risky stuff and move their operations to a different server. However, sometimes it can still happen that signins don't work for a few hours or so. You cannot see it, but I am working hard on improvements to avoid events like this from happening.
Note that eBay can kill sniping any moment they wish to do so. I tried contacting eBay and asked them to work with them on anti-fraud measures and to allow us to use the API (there is no reason for anti-sniping bias), as I believe we have a common interest in this, but I haven't heard back as of yet. |

Today seems to be another one of those "Bad-Hair Days" at EBay
Not only can I not upload my Watch Listings to Gixen....
Heck, while in EBay, this morning there are times where I cannot even add items on EBay's internal Watch List... and, even searching EBay listings comes up with Failure messages with EBay saying Sorry... try again later
Obviously not a Gixen issue.. but makes you wonder what's happening at EBay |

The majority of comments about the issues Ebay are having today are on this thread:

Interesting you mentioned the captcha codes.
I can only display captcha codes on my mobile device (an LG phone) if I manually switch my application folder settings into Mobile View. Operating in Classic View will deny me capcha code images. Any and all.
I have berserkerplanet to thank for his help with that tidbit of know-how. I'd shopped and bid and bought for months on ebay with no ability to ask a seller a question until after I'd bought the item. Thank heaven for the kindness of strangers. Berserk's a peach on the techy board over there, he's used to be pretty game to help anyone asking nicely.
