|
|
I am using Gixen Desktop Manager. I am a new ebay/gixen user and I am not familiar with the more advanced stuff.
There is a section in GDM, called High Bid. What does it mean and how is it calculated? I cannot see it anywhere on ebay itself.
For example, item 261537996987 's current bid is GBP 23.50. Gixen says that the high bid is GBP 39.89. Does gixen give me information about what another Gixen user has bid?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
P.S. Great software and great service you have running, Mario! |

The intention is that the 'High Bid' column reflects the current auction price in the currency of the auction.
In your case that is obviously not the case, the first check I would advise you to make is that you are running then latest version of the GDM, 1.4.1, you can check that by selecting the 'About' button at the top and checking the details provided in the box tat then appears.
If you have am older version the first thing to do is download a new version and use that instead.
If the above is not resolving your issue then it will need to be looked at further as that would indicate that the latest version needs a fix to ensure it picks up the current auction price and not a converted value for a different currency. Please let us know again if that is the case and provide more examples, if possible. _________________ Mark |

As an update, I can confirm this is an issue with the GDM... I have the same happening with auctions listed in British Pounds [GBP] and Euro [EUR]... using version 1.4.1.
It is picking up the value displayed as:
Quote: | Approximately US $XX.YY |
on the .com site (I have .co.uk as my target)
and not the actual auction value.
I think Mario will need to take a closer look. _________________ Mark |

Thanks, Cupid.
Your explanation makes sense. I guess Mario has to see where the fault lies. |

I will look into this, I am aware of the issue. Note that it does not affect sniping, but it needs fixing nevertheless. |

This problem is fixed now with GDM 1.4.2. Please re-download it from www.gixen.com/gdm/GixenDesktopManager.zip
Please let me know if you see a similar problem again. |

Thank you Mario,
I confirm that fixes the display issue for me.
While testing this I came across another feature that affects the ease of use... when you delete a snipe using the GDM it triggers a refresh of the status from the servers, not an issue in itself, however you also get the prices updated from the Gixen servers... it does not, however, immediately trigger an internal price refresh... the result being that when the prices are out of date on the servers they remain out of date in the GDM for a while.
My immediate thought when I see some yellow is to go and delete the snipe, to tidy up the display, I accept that may be unusual behaviour... but it is frustrating, when I know I saw other yellow snipes before that delete action, not to get back to the situation of seeing the yellows in a timely manner.
I am not sure of the best solution, perhaps the quickest and neatest is to just update the internal display (removing the snipe for which a delete request was sent to the servers) directly when a delete is made without downloading all the snipes again... but another, is to trigger a price refresh after the download is complete. _________________ Mark |

Mark, I will see that I trigger a price refresh after status update. In the meantime, one solution for this is to set price refresh interval in GDM to a more frequent value. By default it's "Variable" which means it becomes more frequent the closer an auction is to ending. |
