Hi There Fellow Snipers!
I would like Your input on this bids History;
offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=261440845630&showauto=true
Regular selling price for this item is around 15 USD. I successfully managed to snipe one for 09.50.
But in this auction bidding history the Buyer got it for only 0.10 USD? Something seems off.. |

Hmm,
It looks like bid shielding to me... if I were the seller I would be asking Ebay to investigate if the buyer was using three accounts at the same time, in order to prevent others placing reasonable bids. _________________ Mark |

Hi Cupid, and tnx for reply.
So one option is that the seller was scamed, because they prevented anyone else to bid, but there is also an option that seller gained on positive review and all the bidding was his?
P.S. Do You know that there was a series called 'Cupid' that sadly did not last long but IMHO was really nice and I liked it a lot; You might check it out. imdb.com/title/tt0168326/ |

There are much easier ways to gain feedback, if that were my aim I would be buying BINs from myself and then refunding/cancelling the transactions... in any case Ebay would be quite likely to detect what was being done after a short while, not that they would necessarily care about that so long as they were allowed to make some money from it (if transactions were not subsequently cancelled) ... if they were not then they are likely to put a stop to it by de-registering the accounts used.
If the bidding were by the seller I would think it more likely that they were testing bidding methods to see if they could be used successfully and/or automated.
I was not aware of that series, or the later re-make, I imagine it did not get as far as being shown in the United Kingdom, where I live... I chose the moniker as an example of a sniper that had a friendly/loving purpose. _________________ Mark |

One would think that eBay would not allow a single, zero feedback user make 414 Bid retractions like the bidder did in the example you provided here. That's absolutely disheartening that eBay is letting that happen.
If that is going on, how many sellers is eBay allowing to simply use a second computer, with a VPN/Proxy service to give them a spoofed IP address, to increase their own bets? Probably a lot more than anyone would ever believe.
It seems that just so eBay gets their share, they don't care what goes on. They should have a department whose only responsibility is bidding integrity. Seeing this, I know that there is no such department and if there is one it must be being running by a Kathleen Sebelius clone. Very disheartening indeed. |
