So BUMMED! I have been using gixen for months and signed up for mirror service today to support the site.

I updated a few snipes and added a few others. These were done hours ago (so basically plenty of time before auction end). My first snipe post mirror service ended just a short time ago and I should have been the highest bidder and won the auction (or at least bumped it up to my bid), but instead I have 'UNKNOWN ERROR (3)'?

Item : 321061678245

End price was $9.49, my snipe was $10.03 - so it wasn't a bid increment issue.

I'm able to bid on sellers other auctions, so it wasn't a blocked buyer issue.

The only thing I did differently then how i'd used gixen before was to utilize the offset/mirror feature. I set offset to 6 seconds and mirror to 3.

HELP?? Maybe it was my punishment for not having supported the site earlier? Embarassed Razz

No, no, it wasn't punishment, of course.

From what I can see, ebay returned another login screen when Gixen submitted a bid. This usually happens when they want users to update some information on their account. I have no idea what exactly it is, it's behind that login screen.

I recommend that you try submitting the next bid manually (but not at the last moment) to find out what it is.

ACK.

And it just did it again for an auction I HAD to win. My bid was $5 over the max bid.

Again, all was fine earlier in the week, before I upgraded to the mirror account. Sad(((( The snipes that i've added since I upgraded to the mirror account don't show up when I first login to gixen, and only show up every few logins.

I've also placed bids/bought items directly on ebay w/o using gixen this afternoon w/o issue. No changes to my account other then signing up for mirror.

And ps. I submitted a bid between the time I had the first gixen error AND posted my message. I wanted to verify that I was in fact able to bid on the original sellers listing.

And then I've made an on ebay website bid and one from phone between the time I had the error message and again now.

And I only have one snipe on my list, but I added additional this afternoon (post upgrade) that are not listed. The one I added last night consistently displays.

And PPS. Wink

Just so its clear. I'm super appreciative of the service you provide here (FREE!) and I have no issue with the mirror service fee which is insanely cheap IMO. My only reason for signing up was to support the site, smart software developers (cause I work in that biz) and all the great things provided here. So even in my GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH I lost an auction (or two, waaaaaah! Wink) , the world is coming to an end - I'm insanely appreciative of all the auctions I've won in the past year BECAUSE of gixen! (i'm exaggerating the drama cause its JUST ebay and there are many more auctions to win....)

The feature of your case that has never been reported by any else before is the disappearance and reappearance of snipes with successive logins to Gixen...

Is that still happening?

If so can you provide details of the auction numbers involved?

It is. Last night I could only see one upcoming snipe and none of last nights completeds (there were 3).

This morning:

COMPUTER ONE

IE9 Browser 9.0.12 - I can see the completeds but not the upcoming.
Chrome Browser 24.0. - I see the upcoming, no completeds.

COMPUTER TWO

IE9 Browser 9.0.12 - I see the upcoming, no completeds.
Chrome Browser 24.0. - I see the upcoming, no completeds.

On my android phone, selecting both the mobile view and full site view of gixen.com I see only the upcoming.

Completeds:
321061678245
140903645030
150985622173

Upcoming:
200885289201

see, no life altering auctions if I don't win them. Wink

Okay, I just logged out and logged back into computer one, IE browser and only the upcoming appears.

I logged out and logged back into computer two, IE browser and Chrome browser and I have no scheduled snipes listed.

Android phone, mobile view and full view shows upcoming.

I'm not sure if screenshots of all this would help?

You are logging in with two different passwords, and Gixen did not recognize the page ebay returned. The return screen from ebay says that your account has been locked, probably due to too many login attempts.

Please go to eBay, log in and change your password - this will get your account unlocked. Then log in to Gixen using the new password. You will have to re-enter your snipes.

I'm not sure why its reporting that because my ebay account isn't locked and i'm currently logged on directly to ebay and have been on both computers and phone. I have had no ebay reports of 'locked' password on any of the devices. I have only one ebay password and it was changed a week to 10 days ago. Since my password was changed, I have logged in to gixen (with the new ebay password) and set snipes/successfully executed snipes and placed bids directly on ebay without issue. Again, no issue until yesterday afternoon.

Sorry, not to come off as stupid user, but what you are stating is inconsistent with my actual experience.

I imagine what Mario can see when looking at the database is that you have snipes scheduled with the same ebay id but different primary key (which includes both the id and the password).

It would certainly explain why you get different selections when you use different devices/browsers and why some of your bids are failing to get through to ebay when Gixen attempts to log in with an invalid password.

If you go back to your various differing devices and browsers to ensure that all have the correct ebay password, then the next most likely explanation is that for some reason what is being sent from these devices to Gixen is different for some other reason.

Also it is has not been unknown for the Gixen servers to receive differing responses from ebay users than they do themselves on their own devices... when there is some underlying problem with the ebay id and/or the data that Gixen holds... I'm not aware of any cases where the id has turned out to be incompatible with Gixen in the long term though... so as long as we keep looking into this together I'm confident that a solution can be found that we can all be happy with.

Apparently not with the both browsers - I suspect one of your browsers had the old password memorized. I see two different passwords in the database, so there is zero doubt about this.

Please log out from Gixen from all browsers, and then log in again by typing the actual new password. Do not use browser-memorized passwords. After that you should be fine.

May I suggest a feature I like, I've seen and used it on another snipe website. That is, a button "Check ebay credentials now". I think it would save the day quite a few times Razz

Gixen used to do this every time you log in, but it started causing problems with ebay. Now it saves a hash and checks only week or older passwords with ebay.

Oh I see, yes I understand the problems with eBay. Perhaps the button could be on-demand (so, it won't be used unless people changed their password recently and want to make sure) and have limits, say, each user can test credentials once a week - I am making this up, no idea about what's reasonable, and no idea if the extra traffic would be negligible, as I hope. Maybe it could come with some WARNING: abusing this might cause eBay to demand captcha confirmation and thus your bid failure.

I think this is not a sniping issue, but a user issue: someone has snipes, they change ebay password, the phone rings and they are interrupted, they forget that they should have changed the gixen password too, which of course, they have saved in the browser... people make mistakes, and after all, if people didn't, if we were all vulcanians, there'd be no point in sniping Smile
