Can anyone tell me where to find information on the meaning of the 'Variable (default) option on Price refresh interval, found in Preferences/Settings on the Desktop app?

Variable means that the price will be refreshed by GDM more frequently the closer the auction is to the end. E.g. there is no point checking the price every 5 seconds 5 days before auction end, but it makes sense 5 minutes before the end.
More precisely:
Price is refreshed:
- continuously (as fast as possible) if auction ends in less than 2 minutes.
- every minute if auction ends in less than half an hour.
- every 5 minutes otherwise. |

Mario, Thanks for the quick and informative reply. Sounds like the default is an intelligent and at the same time, sensible way to go. I guess that's what well designed 'defaults' are all about anyway.
I love it when computer software is designed to replace humans doing meanial (and frequently boring) tasks. An excellent use of technology, freeing the human to enjoy the finer things in life! |
