Hi there. I am new to your website and placed 2 bids this morning. I then deleted one and I have just now won both items? I have just checked my list and the locket I won is not even there, but I did not bid on it? The other item I won this morning is sitting there as won, which is correct. What went wrong, and how do I stop this happening again. Thanks |

Please can you provide the auction number of the auction that you think Gixen bid on in error?
Did you delete it from Gixen only just before the auction finished? _________________ Mark |

The eBay ID number was 350660194143. A gold locket. Mine was obviously the last bid, which I won. I deleted the item the morning of the auction. So at about 8:00am. Thanks or your reply. Hope you can help so it doesnt happen next time as this service is awesome. |

It seems that, for the winning item, you logged in as "esl 2001" (with space) instead of "esl2001". Not sure why Gixen (and ebay) allowed this. It was basically treated as a separate account from esl2001. |

Interesting... looking back at the guidelines on ebay for user ids:
User IDs can't contain:
. Any characters except letters, numbers, periods, asterisks, underscores, or dashes.
...
. Consecutive underscores.
From this discussion/problem it would appear that the ebay login now removes included spaces before verifying the account credentials... I believe they have removed leading and trailing spaces for some time... but the removal of internal ones instead of just rejecting the credentials outright may be new.
So I think, if not too difficult to implement, Gixen should do the same...
and perhaps due to the other requirement (not to have consecutive underscores) that might need some investigation as to how ebay are now handling them from a login point of view... they might now be removing consecutive underscores before processing the login. _________________ Mark |

I've now tested the 'consecutive underscores' and ebay currently just reject the log in, so no updates are required, at present, to cater for this.
They are definitely removing included spaces before processing the log in though. _________________ Mark |

This has been addressed now, now Gixen also removes any blank spaces in the username (web interface only so far, which is the most commonly used one). |
