Gixen end of auction email before end of auction

I received an Outbid e-mail from Gixen for item #221038964961 which is currently still active and at the time of the email the max bid was about $16 while my max was about $21.

Reviewing the bid history, there is a bid retraction involving a bid greater than my max that was nowhere near the end of the auction, which is Jun 05, 201214:09:23 PDT. I received the email between the time the larger bid was placed and the time it was retracted.

Why would Gixen have returned the status it did? As I won another identical item, I have deleted this item, and other identical items, from my Gixen to-be-bid list, none of which were in a Group.

Ok, just figured out this was an Outbid notice, not an end of auction notice.

Would Gixen still have made my original bid as previously scheduled, given the bid retraction?

Bid retractions can cause problems if they are made in the last few hours before auction end. In that case Gixen can still think the current high bid is higher than your maximum bid and skip bidding on it all together.

This happens rarely though, and when it does, sellers 99% of the time re-list the item, as they know erroneous bid ruined their chance to get a fair final price.
