Hello

I have just subscribed to Gixen (paid) and haven't got a clue about a couple of things, namely the 'bid group' & 'offset' & 'mirror' pull down boxes when I leave a snipe.

Can someone explain to a dumbo what to do please? Embarassed
I would like my bid to go in at 6 seconds, and that's all I understand (I have used other snipers in the past, but without the mirror settings.

Many thanks
Tara

Hi Tara,

The Regular Group feature allows you to set up many snipes when you only want to win one of them... what happens is that when you win the first item in a Group the rest of the snipes in that Group are cancelled. This is used when there are many auctions available for the item that you are looking for but you only want one.

There are other variants of Grouping which have a different function but to use those you have to enable them first on your Settings page... I won't elaborate on their function at this stage.

The Offset feature allows you to set the amount of time before the auction finishes that Gixen will try to place your bid, this can be set independently for each of the servers (Main and Mirror) for each snipe, so that is why there are two settings available when you set up each snipe.

You don't need to change the defaults for any of these options when you set up a snipe, by default a snipe is not grouped and is hence independent of any other snipe, which is what you usually want. The default offset for both servers is 6 seconds which is a good compromise between being late enough to avoid any retaliation from manual bidders and early enough to be before other automated snipers.

The options are there to allow you to choose a slightly different operation if you prefer or need it.

Thank you Mark; I'm sure I'll get my head around it once I've set a few snipes Smile
