automatic currency conversion?

My question is:
Does Gixen automatically convert a bid listing in, for example, British Pounds Sterling, to US Dollars? I ask because Gixen system won't let me include "GBP" (Great Britain Pounds) in my bid entry amount, so I just put in the number amount and hoped it would convert it.

No, the amount that you enter is in the currency of the auction.

If you want to work out what that is in your own curency I recommend using something like xe.com.
