For the third time within 2 weeks, someone has won by submitting an earlier bid which outbids my Gixen bid by exactly the correct increment. It would seem that:
-This is an amazing coincedence
-Or my bids are somehow visible
-Or someone's gotten into my Gixen accout
Here's the bid history for the last time this happened:
Other guy US $11.01 May-09-07 21:36:26 PDT
Me -------- US $10.51 May-10-07 15:46:12 PDT
Me -------- US $10.51 May-10-07 15:46:12 PDT
It looks like Gixen still submitted my bid, even though a higher bid was submitted one day before.
Any thoughts? |

Well, this is exactly what ebay proxy bidding is. ebay will raise winner's bid exactly for the increment necessary to win, and it will not show you winner's maximum bid.
It's not a coincidence, it's expected behaviour. |

I see -- I was confused by the fact that eBay shows the original date of the earlier bid. It makes it look like the other bidder somehow "knew" my maximum bid, before it was submitted. Thanks for clearing that up. |
