But wouldn't us both setting Gixen at 6 seconds make it more likely that our bids will go in at the same time? This HAS happened recently but one bid was higher so it wasn't a problem. Both bids were in at the same time (6 seconds before auction end)

Sure, anything is possible, but one will always be the first one to get processed by ebay. There has to be some mutex somewhere in the whole process that will get acquired first by one of them.
