|
|
Login was unavailable from around 3pm until 8pm EDT today. No snipes failed during this time. More technical details follows below.
Apparently, ebay started placing captcha images for all the signin requests originating from the front-end server. They probably realized no bids are ever placed from this IP, and black-listed it.
The backend continued working OK, so I resolved the problem by re-routing signin requests to go through the backend server.
Sorry for the trouble folks . |

Thanks, Mario! I have one additional request: could you tell us what we need to do to the Greasemonkey Autosnipe script so that login requests that it originates are also re-routed? I've been living by the Autosnipe script and would like to have it working again. _________________ John

Maybe Keith will stop by and let mario know what information he would need to update the Autosnipe script. I am a big fan of that script and appreciate Keith very much for writing it! _________________ John

Sorry guys, I promise to fix both international sites and autosnipe in the next 24 hours. Can't do it immediately as I am away from home at the moment and have a horrible internet connection... I don't need any info, this is both completely a server side fix. |

Thanks, Mario. There's no need to apologize: you fixed the most important thing almost instantly and it was eBay that broke it, not you. We appreciate your hard work: I've never seen customer support better than yours (or even as good, for that matter). _________________ John

I have to agree with you there John.
Marios customer support is second to none, I think we both speak from a fair amount of experience on that.
Some say he never sleeps and is pocessed of God like powers... I think he might have some rather clever alerts that awaken him from his slumbers at opertune moments. _________________ Mark |

You've got that right, Mark! I've trusted Gixen for bids over $1000 and would tell anyone who asks that Mario has <i>earned</i> that trust. In any case, I just used the Autosnipe script successfully and I'm here to say THANK YOU to Mario! _________________ John

hear, hear!
haven't been on the forums often recently, but I definitely have been using the service... for many bids, up to the $700 range, and they have all gone through! I have always been quite happy with gixen's performance! |
