With eBay's October 2026 transition from 7-day autopay to 24-hour or 4-day autopay, when Gixen submits a winning bid through eBay's API, does eBay automatically assign a payment deadline and charge the buyer's stored payment method? Or do Gixen-initiated bids continue through the legacy checkout process, allowing the buyer to pay manually?
Will this continue to be the case when they move to extended bidding? Can e-Bay even prevent it if they wanted to? |

That's a fair few questions, I'll do my best to answer them as best I can.
So far Gixen bids have not been blocked if you don't have an automatic payment method set up. I don't have one on any Ebay account at present, I did set some up at one stage or another but have since removed them for various reasons.
If you do have an automatic payment method set up already, Ebay will use it. That's one of the reasons I removed mine, in the early days they took payments before I could gain the advantage of reduced shipping on multiple wins from the same seller.
If you don't have an automatic payment set up you do indeed need to pay manually. As has always been the case failure to do so in a timely manner can result in undesirable outcomes like cancelled purchases and non paying bidder strikes than can restrict your ability to bid on other items, not just from that seller. I have noticed increasingly blunt automated requests from Ebay in recent times, but have no idea whether timescales have actually been reduced as I do tend to pay within a day or so.
I don't see why extended bidding would have any influence as to when you have to pay, but if you know (or have heard) different please let us know.
Ebay could certainly block bids from those that have not set up an automatic payment method, but I've not seen any evidence that they intend to do so in the foreseeable future.
If that doesn't yet address all the aspects you'd like to discuss please elaborate on them or respond to any of the above points. _________________ Mark |
