Recently sniping behavior has changed for me. In the past if I sniped a 7-day autopay I'd correctly get the 7-days, but now they are all being forced into 1-hour autopay. Nothing has changed on my end. Any idea what caused this and how to rectify it?

The only thing that comes to mind that might be a cause is that recently I paid for some items uncharacteristically slowly (a few days after ending) which sparked some never before seen nag popups \"Please pay ...\" at various times, so maybe eBay is forcing 1-hour autopay on buyers who don't meet some \"quick payment\" metrics?

Gixen has never had anything to do with the payment for auctions on Ebay, that's always been the buyers responsibility, after an auction has been won.

Have you tried contacting Ebay about it, or posting on their help forums ?

I presume that you mean you've provided Ebay with your payment details and they are now automatically using them to take that payment an hour after the auction has been won ?... If so, have you tried just removing your payment details from their site ?

I think I've figured it out. It's not a Gixen issue but rather due to confusion caused by eBay's very poor autopay UI.

For auctions where the seller has autopay enabled the \"Place bid\" menu includes a \"Payment preferences\" section which shows the buyers default auto-payment method, shipping address and \"Pay when\". But the \"Pay when\" shown there is not necessarily when the payment will be made for this item. Rather it is the default time that the buyer prefers. It may be overruled by any shorter time required by the seller. In my case I have 7-days as the default, and apparently the buyer requires 1-hour (because combined shipping is not enabled).

This is clarified in eBay's UI only if one clicks \"Edit details\" in the \"Payment Preferences\" section, where it will then warn you that your 7-day autopay won't apply because the seller does not support combined shipping.

Can't eBay afford to hire competent UI hackers? Grrrr.....

Above \"buyer requires 1-hour\" should be \"seller requires...\"
