Personally, I prefer a slightly larger offset (i.e. the bid placed a bit earlier than the default) in order to take advantage of the bid increment rule, but that's because many of the auctions I bid on attract other snipers that are bidding about the same amount as I am.
However, what works best for me may not be the best for others that are sniping very different kinds of auction. In other scenarios you might find it's more successful for your bid to be as close to the end of the auction as possible. It would be wrong to assume that if it is, that's always the case for everyone else though.
What's an undisputed fact is that the highest accepted bid always wins on Ebay, so it's always more about the amount of the bid than the timing. I tend to always include the word 'accepted' in that statement for very good reason. _________________ Mark |
