Offset is the amount of time before the auction end that a server should try to place your bid.
There are two independent servers, Main and Mirror, both try to place the bid, but if you have different offsets they will be doing so at slightly different times.
The server that you assign the biggest offset is the most likely to be successful in placing the bid since it will be trying to place it earlier than the other server.
