There may be an error in the bid increment example in the blog post titled \"eBay proxy bidding and eBay bid increments\" (0).

The relevant part of the post is quoted below (emphasis mine):

Quote:
You are upset, yet this is completely as per eBay's bid increment rules, as $114 + $2.50 = $116.50, which is less than your maximum bid.

I think \"less\" is not correct here. Instead, it should be \"greater\". Since $116.50 is greater than your maximum bid ($116), eBay does not accept your bid.

I just completed a bidding for an eBay item. The winning bid was 20.50. My Gixen bid was 20.75. Therefore I lost the auction because the increment was 0.50.

It seems unlikely that the winning bidder would just happen to bid that exact amount at just exactly the right time to win the auction. There must be another online process working somewhere online that snipes the Gixen snipe system. The odds that it happened by chance alone are just too small.

Thoughts?

The bid that resulted in the auction price being 20.75, could have occurred at any time before the auction end.

The Ebay bid increment rule is that, once the first bid has been placed, for a new bid to be accepted it must be at least one bid increment higher than the current auction price.

I'm not really understanding what point you want to make or wish to discuss, sorry.
