Gixen disconnected - cost me a very valuable item

Hi there,

I had a snipe that didn't trigger and because of that, I lost out on a very valuable and rare item yesterday. Upon checking it seems my account became disconnected from ebay.

I checked my email and I cannot see a warning this happened or a notification. I understand nothing can be done about it now, but maybe you could add an email reminder for users that this happens (or is about to happen) so someone else doesn't lose out like I did.

There is a big red warning on the MySnipes page for about 10 days before the Authorisation expires... that is what happens, by the way, Ebay expires it after a maximum of 18 months, Gixen itself never invalidates them. Ebay also expires all authorisations on your account when you change any of your credentials with them, like username or password, it doesn't inform the holders of these authorisations, like Gixen, when this happens, so the first indication that it's occurred in those circumstances is generally a failed snipe. I accept many users don't use the MySipes page to schedule their snipes.

I'm not sure whether email is used for this as I've never got to the point of it running out. However it's a fair suggestion if it hasn't been implemented yet... only caveat for that is that many users have classed Gixen emails as Spam and therefore never see any further notifications in their Inbox, no matter how important... You only need to mark one message as Spam for that to happen.

My advice is to set a reminder to renew the Authorisation in your diary once a year, that way you never get anywhere close to Ebays' expiry time.
